Tadalafil 20mg-50mg, a generic version of Mylan's active ingredient, was originally introduced for the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction (ED). The first FDA approved generic version of Tadalafil 20mg-50mg was approved in late 2003 and the generic was launched in late 2003.
The company was the first pharmaceutical company to launch a generic ED product in the United States since Eli Lilly and Company began selling its generic version of Cialis (tadalafil) in 1998.
Mylan announced on Jan. 25, 2008, that it has received final approval from the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the entry of a generic Tadalafil 20mg-50mg formulation in the United States. The formulation is expected to become commercially available soon. The generic version of Tadalafil is expected to be manufactured in approximately 60 countries and will be sold in approximately 60 countries worldwide.
